Padilla Bay Foundation Late-Spring 2021 Newsletter
May 2021
It has been quite a fine spring so far and we hope everyone is able to get out a lot and enjoy it. Come out to the Reserve and walk the upland trail - and check out the Letterbox stations while you walk.
Please meet Amy Wilcox, here in her office away from the office. Amy is our new Administrative Officer and is working hard and fast to “learn the ropes” and help the Foundation continue and grow.
Amy has worked with Everett Community College as a Professor as well as with fund raising. She also worked many years at the North Cascades Institute in numerous capacities including the development and nurturing of donors and members.
She lives over on Fir Island and enjoys many things outdoors.
She and the rest of us on the Board of Directors are anxious to begin seeing you and others at the Reserve soon.
Early May was the State-wide GIVE BIG - WASHINGTON non-profit solicitation campaign and we participated. A hearty thanks to all of you who also participated with donations to the Padilla Bay Foundation. Recently we were able to fund a summer education intern and help with the final cladding and display materials for the touch pool - which really is there and we all will be able to visit ….
There still are not firm dates for reopening the Reserve but hopefully soon - at least for limited visits. The place is so lonely now with only a few staff members there at any one time.
So not a lot of news this time but hopefully much more to report in a few weeks. Know that your Board of Directors and Amy keep very busy running the Business of the Foundation and making preparations for a more active Fall season.
Amazon Smile! If you will shop with Amazon Smile and select the Padilla Bay Foundation as your charity of choice, we will receive a small portion of your purchase price at no additional cost to you. Every little bit helps – spread the word!
Would you share your talents and skills to support the programs of the Reserve? Foundation members and others within the community are invited to help the board pursue its goals and initiatives by serving on a committee or taskforce. Please contact us if you will offer your ideas and help to improve our website, communications, gift shop merchandising, and fundraising efforts.
The Padilla Bay Foundation’s mission is to provide supplemental funding to support the activities of the Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Grassroots involvement of our members is the core of the Foundation’s commitment to protecting our estuaries and supporting the Reserve. Members of the Foundation contribute directly to environmental education, stewardship and research at Washington State’s only National Estuarine Research Reserve – one of 29 in the nation. If not already, please consider becoming a member or making a donation to help support our work
Thank You All – the Padilla Bay Foundation Board of Directors
